Four ways we mint value from scrap.

Each route runs against a specific opportunity to close the loop.

Sort & sell as commodities

Aggregate mixed waste from 9 Pakuwon mall properties. Sort via MRF partner into recyclables, organics, and RDF. Report tonnage and diversion monthly.

Transform unrecyclables

Multilayer and mixed plastics — sachets, snack wrappers, single-use films — have no commercial recycling market in Indonesia. Ecobricks for Earth shreds that fraction, blends it with cement, and cures it into structural building units.

Recycle

Upcycling organics through biological solutions

Organic waste is generated wherever there is a F&B outlet, and it encompasses around 40% of all waste generated in Indonesia. We are actively sourcing partners to source organic waste and upcycle them into high value circular protein and fertilizer to close the loop.

Learning, raising awareness & building talent

The waste problem is generational. We are learning from global institutions, setting benchmarks, then working with the right local organizations to deploy newly learned systems and help foster the next decade of circular economy talent.

Minimizing Waste to Landfill

Public commitment by Pakuwon Group malls — co-launched with DLH (Jakarta Environmental Agency) and KEITI — to divert commercial waste from landfill across the portfolio. Includes ongoing tenant education programs at the mall level, teaching food courts and retailers how to dispose of waste correctly to maximize downstream recycling.

From mixed-plastic to construction material

Launched with the Marriott × Pakuwon hospitality portfolio. Multilayer and mixed plastic sachets — the 30% of Indonesia's plastic stream that no one recycles — shredded, blended with cement, cured into structural benches.

MRF Audit

Auditing by reviewing the day-to-day operations of our partner MRF facility — learning and revising how our mall waste streams are sorted, sold, or processed with the right downstream processors and off-takers.

Partnered with global and local partners to close the loop.
